Party Root Beer

4 Quarts water
3 C sugar
4 tsp root beer extract
2 lbs dry ice

Mix all ingredients, except dry ice, in a punch bowl or large salad bowl. Using a hammer or meat tenderizer, break dry ice into large chunks while it is still in a paper bag. Wear over mitts to drop the dry ice into the root beer. Stir every five min. until most of the dry ice is melted. It takes about 30 min. for root beer to carbonate. Serve immediately.

Makes 1 Gallon.
